Superintendent Ed Condon announced the selection of Ms. Tina Steketee as the new Roosevelt Middle School Principal for River Forest District 90 Public Schools, effective July 2024. Ms. Steketee was selected following an extensive search that included interviews with faculty, staff, parents, Board members, and students.
Ms. Steketee currently serves as the Assistant Principal at Roosevelt, where she oversees day-to-day operations, works closely with teachers to implement best practices, and champions innovative teaching methods. Over the course of seventeen years of service, she has made many important contributions to the school community, including spearheading programs that nurture the holistic growth of students and creating systems to support the professional growth of faculty members.
Prior to joining District 90 Schools, Ms. Steketee worked for ten years in Chicago Public Schools, where she served as an instructional coach to teachers, a LAUNCH principal at Oscar Mayer Elementary / Walter Payton Preparatory HIgh School, and a teacher for the third and fourth grades.
Ms. Steketee holds an LBS (Learning Behavioral Specialist) Certificate from St. Francis University and an Illinois Administrative Certificate in Educational Leadership from Concordia University. She is a graduate of the Leadership Academy and Urban Network for Chicago at Northwestern University, and holds a Masters of Education from DePaul University and a BA from Southern Illinois University. In addition, she completed the Universal Design for Learning program at Harvard and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership at Concordia University.
Ms. Steketee will step into the Principal role following the retirement of Mr. Larry Garstki. Mr. Garstki will retire at the end of the 2023-2024 school year after twenty-three remarkable years of service to Roosevelt Middle School.
