PowerSchool Data Breach Jan 2025
District 90 was notified on Jan 7, 2025 that PowerSchool, our student data management provider, experienced a global security breach affecting hundreds of school districts including District 90. On or around Dec 28, 2024 an unauthorized party infiltrated PowerSchool’s server and extracted information from 2,900 District 90 student records and 1,400 District 90 staff records. Student info accessed included student name, address, home phone, date of birth, doctor’s name and phone (if provided), medical alert information if applicable (such as an allergy or presence of an IEP plan), parent/guardian name, and emergency contact information for 2,900 student records. Staff information accessed included names, school email, school phone number, home or mobile phone number, and home mailing address. No social security numbers or financial information for any individual affiliated with D90 was compromised.
PowerSchool has taken action to address the incident including working with law enforcement and technology security experts to contain the data and strengthen security protocols. PowerSchool will offer complementary identity protection and credit monitoring for two years for all affected individuals. More information about the data breach is available from PowerSchool here.
