Friday, May 28, will be a non-student attendance day in District 90. Teachers will be organizing instructional plans to address academic preparations for the 2021-22 school year. Initially, May 28 was scheduled for early dismissal at 11:30 a.m. for students, followed by an afternoon School Improvement Day for faculty and staff.
The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) permits school districts to use a limited number of Instructional Planning Days during the 2020-21 school year. District 90 has endeavored to use these days strategically and conservatively over the course of the year to reflect the changes in our program due to the pandemic and students’ instructional needs. At this point, the District’s primary focus is to ensure that a strong foundation is in place for fall so that all students will continue to thrive post-pandemic. Our faculty and staff will be using the morning of May 28 to refine classroom social-emotional curriculum plans and ensure that any potential gaps in essential learning standards across grade levels are identified and addressed in the coming school year. During the afternoon, faculty and staff will participate in the school improvement activities as initially scheduled.
