Building Relationships in Diverse Communities, presented by Lauren McBride, LCPC

Lauren McBride, MA, LCPC, CCTP is the clinical director of Healed and Whole Counseling Services. Lauren has a passion for social justice issues and helping to address racial trauma that otherwise would be missed by others. This session will focus on: How to identify how one’s identities may impact her/his/their interactions with members of a marginalized population • Interpersonal skills to build healthy relationships effectively and empathically with individuals of a marginalized population • How to create safety to provide a sense of belonging with marginalized groups individuals of a marginalized population • Tools to repair relationships when a rupture occurs.
Promoting Resilient Children: Supporting Your Child Through Anxiety and Healthy Coping, presented by Dr. Erin Terada & Madison Hewitt

Dr. Erin Terada and Madison Hewitt, LCSW are therapists at The OCD & Anxiety Center. They both specialize in treating children, teens, and adults suffering from OCD, anxiety, PTSD, and anxiety-related disorders (i.e., school anxiety, behavioral issues, tics, hair-pulling, etc.) with Cognitive Behavioral and Exposure Based Treatment. They specialize in difficult-to-treat cases or cases in which people have not had much luck with other treatments.
Parent Well-Being and Connectedness, presented by Carla Philibert (Mindful Practices)

As a result of this session: Participants will report an improvement in their ability to openly discuss their own well-being • Parents will gain opportunities to monitor time usage effectively • Parents will feel comfortable tackling feelings and emotions that often impede their self-care.

Because the sessions will be held simultaneously, all three sessions will be recorded with links on the D90 website available shortly afterward. This way, individuals who may not be able to attend the programs in real-time (or would like to view more than one session) will have the chance to do so. District 90 remains especially grateful to our community partners for their collaboration in planning and coordinating this event, including the River Forest Township, NAMI, Positive Youth Development (PYD), and the Thrive Counseling Center.
