D90 Schools Re-Open for In-Person Instruction on Thursday, February 3

District 90 schools will be open for in-person instruction Thursday, February 3. All school-sponsored after-school and evening activities scheduled for Thursday will also be held as planned.

While the National Weather Service calls for temperatures in the mid-20s tomorrow with anticipated lake effect snow impacting portions of Cook County, these conditions are significantly improved from the weather that required implementation of the E-Learning Plan today. Please ensure that your student has appropriate winter gear for the weather, including hats, gloves/mittens, boots, and coats. Dressing your child in layers will also help keep them warmer as they travel to and from school.

Please be assured that the decision to re-open schools for in-person instruction was made based on the revised weather conditions within our area and the expected impact on the safety of our students and staff. We also consulted throughout the day with the leadership at Oak Park and River Forest High School District 200 and Oak Park Elementary District 97 as part of the decision-making process.

Please be assured that if your family does not perceive that conditions are safe for students to travel to school, a student absence will be marked as ‘excused’ if the absence is communicated to the school office. It is hoped that this advanced notice about school being in session tomorrow will provide families with the opportunity to make any student transportation arrangements that may be necessary to support students being in attendance. Please continue to monitor the District website and Facebook page for updated information regarding the ongoing impact of weather conditions.

Many thanks to our students, faculty, staff, and families for their support and participation in E-Learning today. While we all agree that having our students learning alongside our outstanding educators in person is optimal, we are very grateful for the efforts of students, staff, and families to make our E-Learning day as successful as possible.

As always, the safety of students and staff remains a key priority for the District. Thank you for your patience and understanding during the challenging weather situations.
