Congratulations go to two of our District 90 filmmakers, who were winners in the 2019 One Earth Young Filmmakers Festival. Roosevelt Middle School student Andrew Edwards won first place in the Middle School category for his film, The Turmoil of Palm Oil. This six-minute film focuses on palm oil farming's impact on wildlife and ecosystems. Andrew received $200 as a prize and directed a matching grant donation to the Orangutan Project. Lily Kleps of Lincoln Elementary School received an honorable mention in the Elementary School category for her film, What a Waste! The seven-minute movie discussed food waste and how to reduce it.
